Happy Mother's Day

My mother's day request for today was to do nothing. The last few Sunday's we've spent the day at our extended family's celebrating Easter so this Sunday I wanted to stay home and get a Sunday afternoon nap in. And my request was granted. I even left for a few hours and enjoyed a dinner by myself at one of my favorite restaurants and did a little grocery shopping. Let's face, a mother's job really never ends so the grocery shopping had to be done. Besides, the weather was beautiful and the kids enjoyed running barefoot outside.

Days like today I consider myself a very blessed mom. Not only do I (we) have three (and a half) beautiful kids who are healthy and live life passionately, I also have a mom who has taught me so much. In my short, 32 years I am still learning from her everyday to become a better mom and a better person. Ten years ago I inherited another mom who I also learn so much from. I am truly blessed to have these godly women in my life. As I think about how blessed I really am on a day like today I can't help but think of Martina McBride's song "Blessed." The lyrics are below and I think they apply to my life perfectly.
