Rigley is One

Riggy-Roo, Little Man, Riggs, Mr. Man....you have so many different names for such a small boy.  Today you are one, how can that be?  I asked time to slow down and (for today) we got an extra hour, I guess that is better than nothing, right?  It's hard to believe that just one year ago we were in a delivery room waiting on you to arrive.  You were giving my body fits making me throw up and making my blood pressure go crazy.  You were also giving the doctor fits as well.  Given all that, we should have known you would be keeping us on our toes day in and day out. 

You have such a sweet personality.  You are happy about 95% of the time.  We have music playing around the house a lot and we catch you mimicking the noise as if you are singing.  If the older kids are singing you like to stand on your knees and dance and (try) to sing with them.  Right now you are in this phase that when we say "cheese" you give us this squinty-eyed, scrunch face smile.  It is so funny!  We catch you babbling to yourself then cracking yourself up.  You think you are so funny.  You love to be around your siblings so much.  We have times when you are the only child around and you hate it.  Apparently mom and dad are not that fun to play with.  In the last week you go around the house saying momma...momma...momma, its so sweet.

Sleeping through the night is finally something you have conquered this last month.  You go in spurts where you have about 3-4 good nights then a bad night.  We are pretty sure that your teeth are giving you fits.  On your bad nights, we let you cry for a little while then we will go up and rock you and normally you will go back to sleep.  Two naps is still your normal routine during the day.  Most mornings you are up between 6:30-7:30. You are up for a few hours then nap time for about 90 minutes, then lunch.  In the afternoons you lay down when the others lay down, which is around 1:30, and will sleep for a few hours.  Bedtime is usually around 8 or 8:30.

Right now you have four teeth on top and three on the bottom.  Your gums are so swollen that I feel like all your teeth my pop up at once.  Your like to grind your teeth and it drives me crazy, I hate that sound! You move your tongue around in your mouth feeling all these new teeth which result in many funny faces.  You are walking on your own more and more.  You used to only like to walk when mommy and daddy were helping you but now its all you.  We find you carrying around your big blue ball and taking about 8 steps then you fall.  Your confidence is growing and I'm sure we will be able to call you a walker in about a week or so.

You are officially done nursing.  You are the first of our bunch that was done nursing before one year.  Officially you nursed about 11 months and the others went between 12-13  months.  You have no problem drinking milk which is something the others did not want to when they were weaned.  They didn't care for milk until they were two or so and you are fine with drinking it and water all day long.  You do like to steal Paislee's apple juice and drink it, you think it's so funny when you do it.  Im convinced that you love to pick on Pais more than the others.  I'm sure you and Paislee will have a special relationship like Chaney and Tucker do.


Rigley, it has been so much fun (and a little sad) to see you grow up so much in the last year.  You are such a happy boy and a true blessing to this bunch.  You complete this family in so many ways.  We pray that God will continue to bless you and give you a heart that loves Him so.  We love you bunches Riggy-Roo.

Note: I took these pictures after our family pictures (yes, we had two sessions) this last week.  It was a little cold outside so if Rigley looks like he has a Rudolph nose he may very well have one.  I'm pretty sure by this point he was almost frozen.  He was a trooper.
