Iced in - Day 2

Round 2 has come and gone and (thankfully) we did not lose any power. We did receive about another inch or so of ice. Boooo! Last night the wind howled like crazy. I'm guessing by the amount of ice on the ground that the wind was productive in knocking the ice off trees and plants. We did have several family members who lost power for about 12-15 hours but are now all back to normal. Today, I needed some time away so I volunteered my services to go out and try to remove some ice from the drive and sidewalk. TRY...the keyword here. That stuff was crazy thick and hard. Thankfully, the sun was out and melting some so that worked to my advantage. I may or may not have fallen right on my caboose.....I can not confirm or deny the reports.

This is the step off the front porch, you can see the leaves that fell off the plants.

You can see the ice that has fallen off or that the wind blew off.

Last night while we got out our coloring books and colored we listened to the rain hit the windows. Our power flickered a few times about 6pm and we thought that was the end. I think Chaney really wanted the power to go out, she kept talking about it. Around 8pm we had a few flickers that ended up taking the power on-off-on-off-on again. For a few seconds we thought that was the real deal.

This picture is not really of anything good but just check out PK's face. Every time we say "cheese" this is what we get.

We figured that before the kids go to bed we should get the sleeping bags out and ready to go if we should lose power. They like playing in them anyway.

"Cheese!!"

I think I can speak for all of us when I say we are tired of this weather. It was nice to have Josh home and get some things done around the house but we need a new change of scenery. Tucker is finally over his fever and the fighting has gone into full force. Tonight we took a short trip into Wal-Mart to get some items and to check the roads out. It is so slick out. In my short 32 years, I don't remember any ice storm like this. Tomorrow the frigid temps come in so looks like the ice maybe around for a few days. Lucky us!

  1. I was happy to hear that the fighting just doesn't happen here. We have had way too much togetherness! We are hoping spring comes soon, I think it's wishful thinking.
