I guess it's time to come clean.....I am now posting about setting up the tree but really it has been up for a week now. (Insert laughter, ridicule and all kinds of jokes) Both Josh and I love this time of year and enjoy having the Christmas decorations up and the lights on. So we normally (and by normally, I mean the last few years) put up the decorations the day after Halloween. This year we made it a two day event because with six little hands we have lots (and lots and lots) of help but not many referees. We let the kids get their hands into it all so that the newness will soon subside then we (or I) swoop in to finish up the job.
Each year we set up the tree my mind always reflects on the year before and what kind of memories we made the previous year at Christmas. At the rate at which are family is growing Christmas time usually means we have another little addition to the family or one on the way. (No announcements here so don't even ask). We are so thankful for these little hands and the fun (and chaos) they bring to this Christmas season.

The tree in the box

Paislee was mad because we took something away from her. Poor thing.

Josh and I played a joke on the kids and told them this was our new tree. They were pretty disappointed until we told them we were joking.

This little snowman (yes, with antlers) is a kid favorite and a parents nightmare. The lights light up and he sings and dances. However, he is now in hiding in a secret box in the garage and may not come back out until Christmas eve.

The hanging of ornaments...

...and eating of ornaments.
PS-I have given up on the idea of having a tree with nice and neatly placed ornaments. Because in reality that happens for the first 20 minutes then after that the little hands come in and re-arrange, arrange, re-arrange and so on. So now all the ornaments seem to be on the bottom half of the tree.
