Mommy, can we say....

Sorry no pictures but a few stories that I'm sure you can relate to. A few laughs as well. Enjoy!

In the last few weeks the kids favorite thing to ask is, "Mom, can we say...?" The reason that this question has started to arise is because the other day my son was talking to Chaney and the word s#*t came out of his mouth. As we all know, kids only repeat the words that they hear. Believe me, Josh and I do not talk this way. So, to not make a mountain out of a mole hill, I calmly said, "Tuck, how about we not say that word." (I remember when my older nieces/nephews would say inappropriate words and Sarah battled them because they made a big deal out of it and thus making a bigger battle) To which his reply was, "Why can't we say s*#t?" At this point I'm still not making a big deal but trying to contain my laughter all at the same time. Seriously, he has dropped this word 2-3 times in a matter of 2 minutes. Josh and I realized that he was picking up on this word from the movie "Sandlot." Needless to say that this movie is no longer watched at this house.

Chaney & Tucker are often in a world of imagination. Chaney, the ring leader, is often telling stories adding in bits and pieces from the Bible, princess stories, real life and anything else. One day at lunch we were sitting around the table eating and she was telling Tucker about Abraham and Joseph. As her story progressed, the next sentence that came out of her mouth was, " Joseph had a brother named hot lips." HOT LIPS!!! Are you kidding me? I seriously almost spit my food across the table and erupted in laughter. Now that we think about it, she got that term from Dennis the Menace. Goodness, the fun that kids bring.

Now, we are constantly bombarded with questions that sound like this: "Mom, can I say..." We often have this talk about 3 times a day about what words are appropriate for normal conversation and what words (or phrases) are appropriate at the dinner table.
