Playset to a Fort

This morning we were all out enjoying the cool morning.  We had some chores to do and mowed the yard.  I think this is the first time we have mowed since June.  Our yard is starting to come back to life and is actually green.  The drought may have killed off our grass but we had enough weeds to make up for it.  I guess this fall we may be planting more grass seed...probably just in time for the geese to come back.

While we were working the kids asked if we could make a fort.  So, while Josh mowed I did my best to make a fort.  Josh is the supreme fort maker around this house, not me.  When push came to shove and I was tired of falling blankets I did the smart thing and pulled out the staple gun.  Yes, that's right, a staple gun to the blanket.  (no worries, it was an old blanket that had already taken a lot of abuse.) The kids added their own personal touch with the princess blanket and the spongebob blanket.  (These blankets are not stapled on.)  I'm sure you can tell who picked out these.  The kids took out all their goodies and played up there for a couple hours.

On a side note, it's funny to hear the difference in what the boys and girls call this.

Boy's Version: it's a fort and they take swords and guns up to play, they spy on people
Girl's Version: it's a dressing room, they take food and make-up and do make overs
