A few random things that are going on around here that you may (or may not) care about. But if you think about it if you are checking out the blog then I guess you may care...a little:-)
Since this blog is our family scrapbook I try to keep things updated as to what is going on. A few weeks ago I went back a few years in the blog and looked up random posts. All I can say is I am so glad we have a blog. Half the things I posted about I had not even remembered. My memory is not what it used to be, not even close. Even if no one read our blog I would still do it just to have the memories.
So, anyway, back to random notes...
-Paislee is potty trained. We started on Monday, July 23 and she has been doing well. She wears a pull-up to nap time and bed but has woke up dry every morning except for one. One night she even yelled to go to the bathroom. Her juice drinking has drastically cut back, thank goodness. Now that she is the one taking herself to the bathroom she realizes how much she was drinking. She still likes to use her little potty but is getting better about using the big potty. As always, with a new learner, we make lots of trips to make sure no accidents happen. She is always so proud when she goes, she comes out and lets everyone know.
-Chaney loves school. We had meet the teacher night last night so we were all able to see her classroom and meet a few of her friends. She liked showing us around her "new" school.
-About 8 weeks ago I had a few skin cancer spots removed from my back and a few frozen off my face. (It's the Blackford curse. My dad and aunts and uncles have had the same thing done. The joys of blonde hair and blue eyes and playing outside.) Since then my shower time revolves around Josh. He is my nurse and has to put new bandages on my back each day, after my shower. These spots were not like a dime size spots. In fact, one in the middle of my back was large and very deep. So, if you see me swimming and see bandages I just tell people they are my nicotine patches. It usually stops the conversation right there...ha! Hopefully in the next few weeks I will be done with the bandages and the oozing.
-Since the spring I have been trying to get back in shape. I was trying to run/bike at least 3-4 times a week. However, with the kid's schedule, Josh's schedule, my daily responsibilities, bible study and sleep finding time was hard to come by. Our friends Amy and Anna had started a couch to 5K program. I thought if I did this it would help to keep me accountable so I asked my friend Nicole to run with me. She also had a baby last fall and was wanting to drop some weight and get in shape. So we are running together. We meet about every other night and run in the evenings when our kids are in bed. To keep ourselves motivated we are signing up for some 5K's in the fall and in the spring. Yesterday we started week 2 and are enjoying it. If you know me you know I hate to run....like HATE it. However, when I run I drop weight quicker and my legs get toned. I guess you can say we have a love/hate relationship. Also, I'm not getting any younger so the running helps to keep my heart healthy too. I have a goal weight in mind and I am about 12 lbs from it. Hopefully, I will get there soon. After I reach it then more clothes in my closet will fit.
-During Rigley's nursing time I usually read blogs. Many friends and some family members have started keeping blogs and as busy as we all are it is nice to read these and keep up with people. Some blogs are people that I don't know or even met, I may stalk them just a little:-) I like reading things they do and see the different parenting styles and different family dynamics. It always makes me laugh when some of these bloggers portray their lives and families as perfect. Really? Just so you know, when you read ours, our life is not perfect...not even close. I could leave a page long blog entry every day of my...MY screw-ups. If you are looking for a perfect family blog, it's not ours. Ours is just us trying to make it through each day having fun, getting in trouble and barely keeping our head above water.
